DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an email validation system used to prove that an e-mail message has been sent by an authorized email server or person. An e-signature is attached to the email message’s header using a private encryption key. When the email message is received, a public key that is available in the global Domain Name System is used to validate who exactly sent it and if the content has been edited in some way. The essential function of DomainKeys Identified Mail is to impede the widespread spam and scam messages, as it makes it impossible to fake an email address. If an email is sent from an address claiming to belong to your bank or financial institution, for example, but the signature doesn’t match, you will either not receive the message at all, or you’ll get it with a warning note that most probably it is not authentic. It depends on email service providers what exactly will happen with an email message that fails to pass the signature test. DKIM will also supply you with an extra security layer when you communicate with your business allies, for instance, since they can see for themselves that all the emails that you exchange are genuine and have not been modified in the meantime.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Shared Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail feature is enabled by default for all domains that are hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud servers, so you will not need to do anything yourself to activate it. The sole requirement is that the given domain should be hosted in a web hosting account on our platform using our NS and MX resource records, so that the e-mail messages will go through our email servers. The private encryption key will be created on the server and the TXT record, which contains the public key, will be published to the DNS system automatically, so you won’t need to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this option. The DKIM validation system will enable you to send out trustworthy email messages, so if you are sending offers or a newsletter to clients, for instance, your emails will always reach their target audience, whereas unauthorized third parties won’t be able to forge your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is offered by default with any domain name that is registered through a semi-dedicated server account with our company. It should also use our name servers, so that its DNS records are handled by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT resource record to be set up, which is actually the public key that verifies if a particular email is legitimate or not. Such a record is set up the moment a new domain name is registered in an account via the Hepsia Control Panel and in the meantime, a private key is generated on our email servers. If you make use of our web and email hosting services, your email messages will always reach their target destination and you won’t need to worry about unauthorized parties using your addresses for scamming or spamming purposes, which is something pretty important if you use email messages to communicate with your business partners.
