Each personal computer or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which interacts with the hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, as well as any applications that are installed on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This goes for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS

We provide as many as 3 different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs you can get and we provide all 3 rather than just one as we realize that you may want to set up some software with specific requirements regarding the Operating System it will run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there are different software applications you could install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you wish to use one and because of this we offer multiple Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you want a different OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you'd like. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

In case you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on your machine as different applications may have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and benefit from a reliable and risk-free Internet hosting service. Based on your selection, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected in the beginning doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you would like to run. We can also upgrade the OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
