SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail security system, that is designed to validate whether an e-mail message is sent by an authorized server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will stop the counterfeiting of email addresses created with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain name creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers which are permitted to send e-mail messages from mailboxes under the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Any time a new e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses checks whether it originates from an authorized server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, however when it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. Thus nobody will mask an email address and make it appear as if you are distributing spam. This technique is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

If you host your domains in a shared hosting account with us and we manage the e-mails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in its own section where you can see which domains are currently secured. For those that aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection service and set up a variety of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to set a rule that emails can be sent only if your domains have our MX records. The last choice is the most secure one, but it can be used when we manage the e-mail addresses for your domain names and you are not using another email supplier. The newly created records will propagate within 24 hours and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail using your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you'll be able to take advantage of the SPF protection feature as part of the conventional set of services that you will have with this kind of hosting. Enabling the protection will involve only a few simple steps within the Hepsia Control Panel, so that even when you haven't used such a function before, you will not have any problems. Employing a really easy-to-navigate interface, you'll only have to insert the information of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). As soon as the newly created record propagates, no one will be able to forge any email address for that particular domain name and send emails from a server other than the one you have entered. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, but in case we manage your emails, you are able to activate an extra level of protection by selecting an option that e-mail messages can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only in the event that the domain uses our MX records. Our tech support team will be able to assist you 24/7 if you have any kind of questions regarding this service.
